Here are 15 people jailed or given suspended sentences for offences in and around South Tyneside during March.
They were all sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court unless otherwise stated.

1. Ian Chapel
Chapel, 39, of Winskell Road, South Shields, admitted harassment and disclosing a private sexual photograph and was sentenced to 12 months, suspended for 18 months, with 150 hours unpaid work, a five year restraining order and a £200 compensation order Photo: NOP
2. Mark Elliott
Elliot, 33, of Broughton Road, South Shields, admitted arson and arson being reckless as to whether life endangered and was jailed for a total of 45 months Photo: NOP
3. Arthur Hodgson
Hodgson, 69, of Birch Grove, Jarrow, admitted a total of 18 offences including rapes, sexual assaults and causing a child to engage in sexual activity and was him up for 18 years and nine months. Judge Amanda Rippon also imposed a five year extended licence period Photo: NOP
