Visitor spots blunder at South Shields' new National Centre for the Written Word
The Word, in Market Place, South Shields, officially opened its doors to the public on Saturday.
As part of the town’s £100m regeneration plan, the new building has replaced the old Central Library and has a whole host of digital features and exhibitions for people to enjoy.

The sign on the wall reads ‘Kid’s Activity Area’ - which means only one child could use the area.
It should say ‘Kids’ Activity Area’.
Council bosses have said the sign will now be replaced.
A spokesman for the council said: “We would like to thank the person who brought this matter to our attention.
“We will replace the sign as soon as possible.
“We are delighted by the overwhelming positive feedback we have had from people to The Word and hope people continue to enjoy the range of attractions and facilities on offer.”
The Word has a range of activities taking place during half-term.
It’s open 9am to 7pm Monday to Thursday, 9am to 5pm on Friday and 10am to 4pm on weekends.
