Takeover talks at Newcastle United have reportedly been put on hold as the bad news keeps on coming for fans.

The Magpies announced that Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron are ruled out until April, a huge blow to the club’s Premier League survival hopes.

Shortly after, a report from the Daily Telegraph then claimed “takeover conversations have been halted” and the club is “effectively no longer for sale” while its top-flight status is under threat.

It has compounded a miserable Tuesday morning for United supporters:

@JoeD_Nufc: I’d have thought that was pretty obvious. Who wants to buy a club that is definitely getting relegated? Ashley will never learn.

@MartinJohnson10: Self-inflicted by all at the club. With this group of players, relegation should not be under discussion. It will serve Ashley right if we go down.

@paul_appleby: This could have easily been avoided if the club had strengthened in January and/or changed manager months ago. Ashley & co will never, ever learn.

@eishariaz13: Didn’t want to be the richest club in the world anyways.

@BNJMCG1: Can this day be over already please. #NUFC

@davidshort63: Utter shambles from top to bottom out club. Embarrassing and depressing in equal measures.
