A 51-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of making or having explosives in suspicious circumstances in South Shields.
Bomb disposal teams and emergency services were called to Hathersage Gardens off McAnany Avenue, in South Shields, on the afternoon of Wednesday, January 8.
