The domestic football season has finished as all eyes turn to Euro 2024 and the Copa America for this summer’s football fix. However, whilst fans will be glued to international action during the off-season, clubs will be finalising their transfer plans as they prepare for next season.

The summer transfer window opens very soon, ushering in months of speculation, gossip and rumours as clubs across Europe aim to strengthen their squads ahead of the new campaign. When does the summer transfer window open and close?

The Premier League have revealed the summer transfer window opens on Friday 14 June. It will run for eleven weeks before closing on Friday 30 August. The transfer window in England will run in conjunction with the transfer windows in Spain, France, Germany and Italy.

When does the winter transfer window open and close?

When the summer transfer window shuts on August 30, clubs will have to make do with their current squad until January 1, 2025. They will have just less than five weeks to complete any transfer business before the window closes on February 3, 2025.

What will Newcastle United look to do in the transfer window?

Newcastle United had a very quiet January transfer window as the club aimed to ensure they remained compliant with Profit and Sustainability Rules. This summer, however, will likely see them spend as they benefit from Champions League prize money as well as their new Adidas sponsorship deal.

They will look to offload players, both before June 30 and beyond as they look to raise money in order to strengthen their squad. Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson have been linked with moves away, whilst Matt Targett could also leave the club.

Fringe players like Isaac Hayden, Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis may also see their time at St James’ Park come to an end this summer.

Lloyd Kelly is set to be their first confirmed move of the summer, whilst Lewis Hall’s loan move will be turned into a permanent one in the coming weeks. A new goalkeeper will be targeted as will someone to bolster their options on the right-wing.
